Spohrer & Dodd is a firm of trial attorneys singularly focused on representing clients’ interests in challenging cases in Florida and nationally. We have a record of taking and successfully concluding complex cases against formidable opponents, often cases which other firms are unwilling to handle.

Senior Partners Bob Spohrer and Roger Dodd each have over 30 years of courtroom experience in a wide range of cases.  We trust and embrace juries and believe their role is integral to the course of justice. Unlike other firms, our team of attorneys is competent and capable to take a case to trial in state and federal court -- whenever this is in our client’s best interest. An experience unknown to most attorneys, three of Bob Spohrer’s cases have been successfully decided or reviewed by the U.S. Supreme Court. Notable are those pictured below:

Advocates And Educators 

Spohrer & Dodd is known for its record of aggressive and effective representation of clients.  We are also known as advocates for public safety, important civic causes, and legal education and professionalism.   

Our advocacy comes in the form of purposely taking difficult cases that may help change laws or the way products are produced or marketed.  One example of this is the alert our widely-reported-on case provided the public regarding the dangers of a defective child’s toy manufactured in China. 

We are active members and sponsors of numerous civic and professional organizations, including Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, Volunteer Jacksonville, the NAACP, the Florida Supreme Court Steering Committee on Families and Children in Court, and the Florida Adoption Council. Our attorneys support many important professional organizations, as well, including the Jacksonville Justice Association, The American Inns of Court, The American Board of Trial Advocates, The Florida Justice Association, The American Association for Justice, The Florida Bar and the Jacksonville Bar.   

Spohrer & Dodd attorneys also act as educators and lecturers for a broad cross-section of lawyers in continuing education and classroom settings. This includes adjunct professorships at the Florida Coastal School of Law, lectures to the University of Florida College of Law, the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, the American Board of Trial Advocacy, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the National Transportation Safety Board Bar Association, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. 

Senior Partner Roger Dodd is an internationally-known lecturer and co-author of Lexis-Nexis’ best-selling book, “Cross-Examination: Science and Techniques.”  His original thinking and important contribution to the body of trial skills is recognized throughout the legal community and his highly-popular lectures are annually well attended.
