Chad Roberts, a partner in the firm, focuses his legal practice on cases with complex procedural and technical issues: mass torts, medical negligence, aviation mishaps, defective products and health care litigation. He has extensive trial experience in both state and federal courts, and has obtained multi-million dollar verdicts as lead trial counsel. Mr. Roberts is Board Certified as a Specialist in Aviation Law by The Florida Bar. He also holds an AV® peer-review rating from Martindale Hubbell, the highest peer rating an attorney can achieve.

 

Mr. Roberts earned a degree in Engineering Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, one of the top ten engineering programs in the nation.

Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a United States Naval Officer, serving aboard guided missile cruisers. His naval experience included tours of duty in the Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq war; coordinating air intercept operations throughout the Caribbean basin for U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency Interdiction programs; and in Beirut, Lebanon in support of U.S. Marine Corps Expeditionary Forces. 

 

Following naval service, Mr. Roberts enrolled in the Florida State University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, and was Associate Editor of the Florida State University Law Review. In law school, he served as research assistant and speech writer to the Dean of the Law School, and then President-elect of the American Bar Association, Talbot "Sandy" D’Alemberte. Mr. Roberts was awarded a scholarship sponsored by the Florida Legislature for service on the staff of the Judiciary Committee of the Florida House of Representatives during 1990 through 1991. 

 

His professional affiliations include: The Florida Bar, The State Bar of Georgia, the Federal District Courts of Florida (Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts) and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the American Inns of Court (Master of the Bench: Chester Bedell Chapter).He is on the Board of Directors for Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (President of the Board, 2007) and Board of Directors of the Florida Justice Association. He was the 2005 recipient of the Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Service award for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida.    

 

Before joining our firm in 2000, Mr. Roberts was a partner at Holland & Knight, LLP.  Born in Miami, Florida, Mr. Roberts is married and has one son.
