Following naval service, Mr. Roberts enrolled in the Florida State University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, and was Associate Editor of the Florida State University Law Review. In law school, he served as research assistant and speech writer to the Dean of the Law School, and then President-elect of the American Bar Association, Talbot "Sandy" D’Alemberte. Mr. Roberts was awarded a scholarship sponsored by the Florida Legislature for service on the staff of the Judiciary Committee of the Florida House of Representatives during 1990 through 1991.
His professional affiliations include: The Florida Bar, The State Bar of Georgia, the Federal District Courts of Florida (Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts) and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the American Inns of Court (Master of the Bench: Chester Bedell Chapter).He is on the Board of Directors for Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (President of the Board, 2007) and Board of Directors of the Florida Justice Association. He was the 2005 recipient of the Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Service award for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida.
