Helen Spohrer handles a variety of legal cases ranging from sovereign immunity litigation, personal injury, child abuse and neglect, and represents clients with mental and physical disabilities.

Ms. Spohrer focuses on children's legal issues and is an aggressive advocate on behalf of children who have suffered physical or sexual abuse. Although she has extensive knowledge of the intricacies of Florida's troubled foster care system, her representation of children encompasses harm suffered by children both in and out of foster care.

In keeping with her commitment to representing those without a voice in the system, she is equally passionate on behalf of clients who have been harmed or disadvantaged due to mental or physical disabilities.

In 2005, Ms. Spohrer developed the Permanency Project for Duval County's Guardian Ad Litem Program to expedite adoptions for children in foster care.  The Permanency Project was funded by a grant from The Florida Bar Foundation and the Florida Guardian Ad Litem Program and was designed to identify and overcome obstacles for children languishing in foster care.

Ms. Spohrer is currently a subcommittee member for the Florida Supreme Court Steering Committee on Families and Children in Court and a board member of the Florida Adoption Information Board.  She was a speaker at the 2007 Summit for Children in New York. Ms. Spohrer received her Juris Doctorate with honors from the Florida Coastal School of Law. Her professional affiliations include: The Florida Bar, the Florida Justice Association, the Middle District of Florida, the Jacksonville Bar Association, and the Chester Bedell Inns of Court, 2002.

Ms. Spohrer was born in New Orleans and raised in Augusta, Georgia. She is married with two children.
