He joined Spohrer & Dodd in 2014 to represent individuals and their families who have been seriously injured. Maynard handles cases in aviation law, wrongful death, defective products, premises liability, truck accidents, and insurance law.
He is a graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law with a J.D. focused on business law and an M.B.A. from the Merrick School of Business. While at U.B. he participated in an internship for the Securities Exchange Commission where he assisted investigations and prosecutions of securities violations. After law school, he spent several years as an Assistant Public Defender in Maryland where he handled hundreds of criminal cases and conducted numerous bench and jury trials. His cases have included a number of serious felonies and murder trials.
Upon relocating to Florida, Maynard started his own title company and law practice where he handled litigation in multiple areas of law and hundreds of real estate closings. Part of his practice consisted of volunteering at the St. Augustine chapter of Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA), where he assisted low-income individuals and families to defend themselves against debt collectors and banks that were foreclosing on their homes. In the wake of the economic fallout of 2008, Maynard was awarded several Pro Bono awards for volunteering hundreds of hours of legal services for the needy.
Maynard has served in the Maryland Army National Guard since 1993 in both the Infantry and Aviation branches. He has attended numerous military schools including Army Flight School and Army High-Altitude Aviation Training (HAATS) in Colorado. Maynard was activated immediately after 9-11 and subsequently served as part of Operation Noble Eagle and Operation New Dawn where he was deployed to Iraq, Kuwait, and Jordan in 2011 and 2012. He flew Blackhawks for the 29th Combat Aviation Brigade and recently retired as a Major with over 23 years of service.
