Jacksonville Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol Thanks Spohrer Dodd for Support

For years, Spohrer Dodd has made financial support to assist the Jacksonville Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol (FL-383) with the cost of its operations and projects, which include programs to educate the youth on aviation issues. As a result, we had the great privilege of receiving thanks for our long-standing support of our local Civil Air Patrol chapter. We were very honored to ring in the new year with a letter of appreciation and award from Lieutenant Colonel John A. Morrison.

In the letter, the Lieutenant Colonel discussed how our donation was very useful in helping the squadron provide aerospace education, emergency services, mission support, physical plant repairs and upgrades, and training. We are especially proud to have helped fund cadet programs.

The events of 2020 — specifically, the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic — required the squadron to adopt new ways of operation and changed the course of its plans for the year. Prior to the pandemic, its numbers had grown so much that it was the largest squadron in Florida Wing, with more qualified mission aircrew than any other of the wing’s squadrons.

While it was certainly different from the year that squadron leadership expected, it was still a year full of success. Just two examples are how it was able to carry out relief operations in Puerto Rico after the earthquake and fly over 22 sorties in support of the United States Air Force, according to the letter.

Spohrer Dodd’s support of our local Civil Air Patrol squadron is one of our myriad charitable efforts. We also participate in many community events, and our attorneys frequently share their knowledge at continuing legal education (CLE) seminars.
