Championed by The National Medical Malpractice Advocacy Association (NMMAA) and implemented in multiple states, the month of July was proclaimed as Medical Malpractice Awareness Month.
As part of Medical Malpractice Awareness Month, NMMAA is promoting an “End the Silence” campaign which aims to spread knowledge about the reality of those affected by medical malpractice, with the goal of supporting policies that will prevent instances of medical malpractice in the future. Specifically, the campaign focuses on the Association’s efforts of “providing hope and promoting healing and by allowing honor to the memories of all those injured or lost due to medical negligence.”
Incidents that are defined as medical malpractice include a variety of examples of doctor negligence which causes injury to a patient: Surgical errors, failure to correctly diagnose a condition, prescription issues, and administering improper treatment are all types of medical malpractice.
Medical malpractice can cause significant harm to already ill or injured patients, either by aggravating their existing condition or causing the development of an entirely new health issue. The physical, emotional, and financial strain caused by medical malpractice is often extensive, and debilitating. At Spohrer Dodd, we are dedicated to alleviating the stress that medical malpractice places on families. Contact us if you were affected by the negligence of a doctor, and for more information about The National Medical Malpractice Advocacy Association and Medical Malpractice Awareness Month, visit www.nmmaa.org.
