Nearly one and a half million American veterans live in a state of constant housing insecurity. Many are struggling with PTSD and/or other mental health issues that make it difficult for them to further their education or hold down a job. The Five Star Veterans Center was created to address the needs of this group. Their transitional housing center provides residents with comprehensive support to help them prepare for a successful future.
The center provides housing, onsite mental health treatment, community integration, assistance with the benefits process, and wellness/fitness programs for residents. Over their 12-18 month stay, veterans are given the tools and training they need to find and hold a job, become active in their communities, and plan financially for the future.
The Five Star Veterans Center launched an ambitious $120,000 fundraising campaign during Veteran’s Appreciation Month—November—and today, we are happy to announce that the organization has met its goal. As one of their corporate sponsors, Spohrer Dodd contributed to the effort.
Giving back is one of our values at Spohrer Dodd, and we have been working with the Five Star Veterans Center for years. In 2014, Attorney Keith Maynard began serving on their board in a further show of support. “Spohrer Dodd is proud to be a part of the Five Star Veterans Center’s efforts to raise $120,000 in just a few months to support military veterans in need,” said Attorney Maynard, upon hearing of the organization’s success.
With the new round of funding, the center will be able to expand its “Passport to Independence” program and help more veterans find their way toward stable lives. They could not have done it without the community’s help. “Spohrer Dodd would also like to thank [corporate partners] Eddie and Chuck Farah for leading this fundraising effort to support local veterans in need,” Maynard added.
All of us at Spohrer Dodd congratulate the Five Star Veterans Center on their success and look forward to helping their program continue to expand and thrive. You can learn more about the organization online at www.5starveteranscenter.org.
